16 Weeks

Well, exciting things have been happening. OK, not really.

Hubbs is obnoxiously excited because the Seahawks are returning to the Super Bowl. This is very big news for him. I swear he almost died from stress a few times during the game.

I found out this baby will not be born in July, but will definitely be born in June. My BP is already starting to misbehave and is hovering around 140/90. Hurray for "Chronic Hypertension" (aka high BP before 20 weeks). After 20 weeks, I'll graduate to "Gestational Hypertension". They're going to start meds if it starts to hit 150/100. They have definitely decided they are not going to let me go past 38 weeks, so I'm looking at an induction around 37 or 38 weeks.

Since I had an emergency induction with Ducky at 38 weeks, it might be nice to have a planned one this time around. Assuming of course my BP behaves enough to let me make it that far. They've already done the baseline tests for liver function and 24-hour urine, and those all looked great. Here's to hoping everything stays on the up and up.

Ducky has been extremely fussy lately. She's refusing to nap unless held, and even then she barely naps for 30 mins. I think she's getting a molar coming in, in addition to the cold/cough she's been rocking all week. Poor little thing is just miserable.

I've been home sick from work the last few days. I had a fun run-in with vertigo. Super dizzy, which lead to being nauseated, which totally lead to me puking in a trashcan at work while running to the bathroom. I then peed my pants from all of the puke. Best day ever. Needless to say, I went home and stayed put for a few days.

Here's a super fat-looking belly pic!
The belly has definitely popped. Hubbs made the ever so sweet comment at work on Friday "Well, you definitely look pregnant", I know he meant well, but seriously. That's like, "Oh, you're looking especially fat today". Interestingly, I'm still down about 28lbs from when we started this whole weight loss thing in August, but gosh, I do look huge!

Picture Post

This is what I ate for a good portion of today. I mean, there's no little reseal tab thing anywhere on the box. Clearly that means I'm supposed to eat the whole box in a day right? Right?

Sick Day

Bah. I've missed days already. This is why resolutions are lame! To be fair, I've been sick, so I'll give myself a bit of a pass. I left work early Friday because I was feeling like garbage. Turns out I had a fever of 101, which thankfully went down with tylenol, otherwise I would have had to go to instacare. I spent the next few days coughing and blowing my nose constantly. Now my voice is gone and I can't speak at a volume louder than a mouse, so there's that.

So I stayed home from work and had myself a little internet browsing and Jane Austen movie marathon. I finished the mini-series version of Pride and Prejudice that I started over the weekend then moved on to the movie version of Sense and Sensibility. Totally worth it.

I spent the rest of my day researching health insurance options through the marketplace because we lost our work insurance. Something that is totally awesome when you're pregnant. Luckily I still have my secondary insurance. Now I have to plan my insurance around the hospital I want to deliver at. Ugh. While it's more convenient to just go with the same one as last time, I kind of want to try out a different hospital. It's a bit smaller and more personal, plus I've heard great things about their room service, so what's not to like?
I spent the rest of the day researching breast pumps and watching breastfeeding videos. I seriously tried with Ducky, but with her jaundice and not gaining, my BP meds and her terrible latch, we just never got the hang of it. We met with multiple lactation consultants and nothing helped. I tried fenugreek, mother's milk tea, lactation cookies, gatorade, everything and nothing worked. I tried 2 different hospital grade pumps and my boobs just hated them both. I even tried a manual pump and it did nothing. Eventually, Ducky needed to go on high calorie formula because she'd lost so much weight. This time around, I'm hoping to have better success. I know all of the techniques, it's just a question of putting them into practice. Luckily, we have a lot of time to prepare. Well, 5-6 months, but you know, that's a lot, right?

2015

I like the new year. I think I just like new beginnings in general. The new year is like freshly fallen snow, it's perfect, pristine, and no one has trudged their feet all over it, ruining it's beauty.
I've never been one for resolutions, I always break them, but I like that a new year brings new opportunities and experiences. Like starting a new school, a new job, or moving to a new place, you get a fresh start. The new year is everyone's opportunity to get a clean slate, and start over refreshed and renewed.
This year, I do have some goals. Successfully birth a human and to support Hubbs in his career goals. He has a few irons in the fire, and it'll be a little while before he's able to decide between them, but I will support him, even if it means he'll miss the birth of our 2nd child.
I suppose I can go ahead and make the resolution to blog more. I think I've failed at that one a few years in a row now. I will make the effort to follow through. The last few months, I've tried to keep up with NaBloPoMo, but time just seems to run away from me and the month is over before I know it. Perhaps now that things are slowing down at work, and I'm almost out of the 1st trimester, that things will get a little closer to normal.
I wish you all luck with your resolutions, and hope you stick around to see if I manage to stick to mine.
